                         Unit 20- Healthy fizzy canned drink advertising campaign

I was asked by OMD London to create an advertising campaign based around a healthy fizzy canned drink that I had to design. The client brief stated that I had to create a print advertisement and a web advertisement for the campaign.

 Therefore, I have created an advertising campaign based around a healthy fizzy canned drink I created called Effervescent. I have created a TV advertisement, a print advertisement and a web banner advertisement for the campaign. I have used Adobe Photoshop to create the print and web adverts along with the can design, I used Adobe Illustrator to create the logo and I used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit together my TV advertisement. 


This is my print magazine advertisement. This is A4 (210 x 297 mm) so it will fit into a magazine. I want the print advertisement to be in a healthy eating, celebrity, influencer and social media magazines.


This is a large rectangle web banner I created for the Effervescent advertising campaign (336 x 280 pixels). I want this advertisement to be placed on healthy eating websites because this is a healthy drink and celebrity websites because my target audience might be interested in these websites. I also want this web banner advertisement to be placed on websites that talk about social media and how to get more likes because this links to the advertising campaign message.


 This is is the Effervescent advertisement I have produced. This advertisement would be on TV and it could also be on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram if it was sized for those social media platforms. TV advertising would also reach the general audience, but social media advertising would attract upcoming influencers and others who would be interested in the campaign message.


                      Background for the advertising campaign and my design choices:

For the Effervescent healthy fizzy canned drink, I chose to make it banana flavoured (we had a list of flavours we could choose from a list in the client brief). I researched different fizzy drinks in the market and found that only one of those drinks were banana flavoured. Therefore, I decided to design a banana flavoured fizzy drink to stand out in the market and this is the USP (Unique Selling Point) of the drink. 

The purpose of my drink is to make the target audience (16-25 males and females of all ethnicities) feel happy and more optimistic for the day ahead; the drink is better to be consumed in the morning. Therefore, I have created a happy and colourful theme throughout my advertising campaign. I chose to name the drink Effervescent because effervescent means a drink that is fizzy, but it also means someone who has a bubbly and happy personality which fits in with the purpose of my drink.

I decided to base my advertising campaign around the message of "For a happy, healthy and Instagrammable morning". I chose this campaign message to tell the target audience that my Effervescent drink will make them happier and it tells them the drink is healthy. Furthermore, it also tells the target audience that the drink can be a part of their morning routine. I chose to base the advertisements around the social media aspect of the Effervescent drink. I want people to take pictures of the Effervescent can and post it on social media, this will then cause the drink to be trendy and popular and more people will want to buy it because others are getting lots of likes because of the drink.

For my print magazine and web banner advertisements, I decided to design them like someone was taking a picture of the can on their phone or tablet. This links to the advertising campaign message and it draws in those who are interested in photos and social media. I used bright colours to simulate a happy mood and I used social media icons to persuade the audience into taking a picture of their own Effervescent canned drink and posting it to social media when they buy it. I have used the same colour scheme of neon colours and lots of bubbles to keep the campaign consistent. 

For my Effervescent TV advertisement, I showed a member of the target audience waking up in the morning and making some tea. They feel sad and they post pictures of the tea onto social media. The posts only get a few likes and negative comments which makes them feel even more sad. However the next morning, they wake up and grab a can of Effervescent from the fridge. They drink the Effervescent and they feel happy. They post pictures of the can and it gets lots of likes and positive comments. This shows the target audience the purpose of the drink using the soft sell advertising technique (not throwing the product in your face but creating a narrative to advertise the product). I used black and white video to colour to show the contrast in moods and to show how the next part of the video takes place the next morning.

These advertisements would be very successful if this was a real product, they all link together to create a very strong brand and advertising campaign.


                                      

                                      Unit 3- Creating a magazine

In unit 3, I have been asked to create a magazine front cover, contents page and a double page spread using only my own photos and illustrations. I have chosen to base the magazine around Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory sitcom TV show.





                            Background for the magazine unit and my choices:

The client brief stated that we could create a music, gaming, movie or TV magazine so I decided to base my magazine from my favorite character from The Big Bang Theory. Because TBBT is a popular TV show that only ended a few years ago, a magazine based around the character from the show and his funny moments would bring nostalgia for TBBT fans and influence them to buy it.



Unit 15- Creating a YouTube video advertisement

S Media (a YouTube advertising company) has asked us to create a three minute video advertisement for a product in the categories of technology or fashion. 

I have worked in a group to create a TV advertisement for the Powerbeats pro earphones. We are targeting the aspirer psychographic who are university students and working adults, males and females between the ages of 21-50. I helped to film the scenes with my group but we all created our own completed edited advertisement, this is mine.




                                           Background and my design choices:

Powerbeats Pro earphones are a Beats product (they are now owned by Apple). They come in a different range of colours and they are the competition against Apple's Airpods. 


                                            Unit 5- Short Film

For unit 5, We were asked to create short film in whatever genre we would like. As a group, we decided to create a detective drama short film called Newspaper. This has been one of my favourite units since I have edited the entire short film which was fun to do.

Academic work

As you can see from my CV above, I have received my GCSE grades. I believe I am more comfortable in English and media because I am a very creative individual and I enjoy these subjects.

In my media coursework, I have had to research different media products in the market to see their conventions and how they are effective, this means I have to be able to read and write effectively. I have used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create my Effervescent canned drink graphic design work. I have also used equipment such as cameras and tripods to film my Effervescent TV advertisement and the Powerbeats pro YouTube advertisement and I have used Adobe Premiere to edit these videos.

 I am a great team worker. I have worked with other students to create the Powerbeats pro earphones advert and I also communicate and help my colleagues at Barnardo's. 

I have generated ideas and used creativity while creating my media coursework.

While doing my coursework, I have discovered that I enjoy creating graphics in Adobe Photoshop, editing in Adobe Lightroom and editing video footage.
